How Embroidery Works

Digitizing is the step that makes embroidery possible at production scale. A digitizer converts your logo or text into a stitch file — not just tracing the outline, but choosing the stitch type (fill, satin, running stitch) and stitch density for each part of the design, then setting the exact path the needle follows. That file is what the embroidery machine actually reads; it's the equivalent of a print-ready file in any other decoration method.

Density is the setting that most affects both how a design looks and how it holds up. A balanced density — generally in the range most digitizers target for typical apparel fabric — gives solid, durable coverage without stressing the material. Push density too high and the fabric itself can pucker, distort, or in extreme cases tear under the stitching; push it too low and coverage looks thin. Fabric matters here as much as the setting: sturdy fabrics like denim, canvas, and twill support denser, more detailed stitching, while lightweight or stretchy fabrics need lower density and a backing stabilizer to prevent puckering.

Pricing follows stitch count, not physical size — a small, dense design can cost more to run than a larger but simple one, because stitch count is really a measure of how much thread work the machine has to do. Once a design is digitized, it's durable in a way few other methods match: because the thread is worked into the fabric rather than sitting on it, embroidery routinely outlasts the garment itself.

The honest tradeoff is detail: embroidery can't reproduce a photorealistic image or a fine color gradient the way DTG or DTF printing can, and text below a certain size gets hard to stitch cleanly. For bold logos, wordmarks, and anything meant to survive years of washing, it's usually the better call than printing.

Pricing & Turnaround

Embroidery pricing runs on three things: a one-time digitizing fee for new artwork (waived on reorders, since the file is already on hand), the stitch count of the design itself, and the quantity of garments. Stitch count — not physical size — is the real cost driver, because it's a direct measure of how much thread work the machine has to do; a small, dense logo can cost more to run than a larger, simpler one.

There's no minimum order — a single embroidered polo or jacket is a normal order here. Per-piece cost improves at higher quantities the way it does with any decorated garment, since the digitizing cost is fixed regardless of how many pieces you run.

Most embroidery orders are ready in about 7 to 10 business days after proof approval, factoring in digitizing time on a new design; reorders using an existing file typically move faster. Free local pickup is available at our Hallandale Beach shop, and we ship and arrange local delivery across Miami-Dade and Broward.
