Screen Printing in Hollywood, FL, Explained

Screen printing is the classic choice for a Hollywood order of 25 shirts or more of the same design: restaurant-staff refreshes along Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, Downtown Hollywood event tees around Young Circle, event and catering crews around the Seminole Hard Rock resort, and HOA board apparel for the beachfront towers along Hollywood Beach. Adorb doesn't run screen-printing presses. We print DTF transfers for the same orders in full color; they need no screens to set up and have no minimum.

Our Hallandale Beach shop at 389 NE 2nd Ave is nine minutes south of Hollywood on Federal Highway or I-95. Pickup is free, and larger orders can be delivered to Hollywood addresses in 33019, 33020, 33021 and 33024. Most orders are ready in 1 to 10 days, depending on order size, and same-day options may be available on rush orders.

The Process

What Is Screen Printing?

Screen printing is the oldest and most established method of applying a custom design to fabric. Ink is pushed through a fine mesh screen, one screen per color, directly onto the garment. Because the ink sits in a thick, opaque layer on the fabric, the finished print is bright, saturated and long-wearing.

How the Screen Printing Process Works

Your design is first separated into individual colors, with one screen prepared for each color and the design "burned" into a light-sensitive emulsion coating the screen. A 3-color logo needs 3 screens.

At the press, each garment is loaded onto a platen and the screens are aligned in sequence. A squeegee pulls ink through the screen mesh, depositing a precise layer of ink onto the shirt. Each color goes down in turn, and between colors the shirt passes under a flash-cure unit to set the ink briefly so the next color doesn't smudge.

After all colors are printed, the shirt travels through a conveyor dryer at around 320°F to fully cure the ink into the fabric fibers. The result is a thick, opaque print built to last.

Screen Printing vs DTF

DTF (direct-to-film) transfers apply a printed film to a garment via heat press. This is how we print full-color shirts in-house: there is no per-color setup, so a photographic or multi-color design sets up the same way as a one-color logo, and one order can mix cotton, polyester and blends.

Screen printing is the classic choice for large runs of the same simple design, where the setup for each color is spread across many shirts. We don't run it, so we print DTF for Hollywood orders of any size, from one shirt up, with no minimum.

Screen Printing vs DTG

DTG (direct-to-garment) printing sprays ink directly into the fibers of a shirt, producing a soft, natural feel that suits single pieces and photographic art on light cotton. Adorb doesn't run DTG printers either; for the same full-color result on any fabric, we print DTF.

Screen printing suits runs of the same design, and its opaque ink gives bold, saturated color; DTG suits one-offs and personalized pieces. For the full-color jobs either one would handle, we print DTF.

Screen Printing vs Embroidery

Embroidery stitches your logo into the garment with thread rather than printing ink onto it. Embroidery wins on structured garments (polos, jackets, caps, fleece), on high-friction wear that would abrade a print, and on the premium look that corporate uniforms and hospitality apparel typically call for.

For t-shirts, hoodies, athletic wear and large full-front or full-back designs, a printed design is the practical choice, because embroidery would need a very large number of stitches. We print those in full color with DTF and embroider polos, jackets and caps in-house.

Who We Print For

Who Orders Screen Printing in Hollywood

Adorb doesn't run screen-printing presses, but in Hollywood the method is usually ordered by three groups: Broadwalk and beachfront restaurants and hotels refreshing staff uniforms, Downtown Hollywood and Young Circle event and retail businesses, and event and hospitality production around the Seminole Hard Rock resort. Our shop is nine minutes south of Hollywood on Federal Highway. Here is what those orders usually look like, and how we print them with DTF.

Broadwalk & Beachfront Restaurants and Hotels

Restaurants and hotels along Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and the beachfront hospitality corridor usually need three kinds of garments for their staff: front-of-house shirts in a beach-appropriate cotton blend for hosts and servers, back-of-house tees in a distinct color for kitchen crews, and event and promo apparel for grand openings, seasonal specials and property marketing. Screen printing is a common choice for the first two at 25 or more pieces each; we print the same staff shirts with DTF, and embroider polos in-house.

Many hospitality properties reorder every season, and we keep your artwork on file, so a reorder is typically a phone call: sizes, quantities, delivery date. Pickup at the shop is free, nine minutes south of Hollywood on Federal Highway, and larger orders can be delivered to Hollywood Beach properties. Most orders are ready in 1 to 10 days, depending on order size.

Broadwalk restaurant kitchen crew tees

Downtown Hollywood, Young Circle & ArtsPark

Downtown Hollywood and Young Circle, with the ArtsPark event calendar, the galleries opening around Harrison Street and the restaurants and bars along Hollywood Boulevard, order printed apparel on an event-driven schedule. These orders tend to be tied to a date, with more design changes along the way than a seasonal staff refresh.

ArtsPark event tees, restaurant staff shirts for the Downtown Hollywood corridor, boutique retail pieces for Hollywood Boulevard shops and gallery-opening staff apparel are the usual orders. Simple one-to-three-color designs are the classic screen-printing job; we print the same pieces with DTF, which also carries multi-color and photographic art. Our shop is nine minutes south via Federal Highway or US-1. Tell us your event date and we will plan backward from it.

Events Around the Seminole Hard Rock Resort

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino area has an active event and hospitality calendar: conferences and conventions in the meeting space, entertainment production at Hard Rock Live, catering operations across the property, and one-off events at the adjacent venues (Guitar Hotel, DAER, the pool complexes). Crews and exhibitors at events like these usually order matching shirts in quantity.

Orders for events like these range from a catering crew to a convention exhibitor booth to a large entertainment production. Screen printing is the classic choice above 25 shirts of one design; we print the same shirts with DTF, from one shirt up. Tell us your event date and we will say plainly whether it fits. Most orders are ready in 1 to 10 days, depending on order size, same-day options may be available on rush orders, and larger orders can be delivered to the venue.

Capabilities

What Can Be Screen Printed

Screen printing works best on natural and blend fabrics where the ink can bond into the fiber. Below is what that method suits and what needs a different one; DTF, which we print, covers the same garments and adds polyester and performance fabrics.

👕

Garments & Fabrics

Screen printing suits: 100% cotton, cotton/poly blends, ringspun cotton, tri-blend, 100% polyester (with low-bleed plastisol ink). Also canvas, denim, tote bags, cotton aprons, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Garments commonly screen printed: t-shirts, long-sleeve tees, tank tops, polo shirts (chest only), hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts, tote bags and aprons. DTF, which we print, covers the same garments.

Not ideal: structured caps (use embroidery), nylon jackets (use DTF), heavily-textured fleece (use embroidery), performance mesh with holes (use DTF).

🎨

Color & Design Capabilities

Screen printing uses a limited number of spot colors per design, because each color needs its own screen and its own setup, so cost climbs with every added color. DTF has no per-color setup.

For photographic or gradient artwork, we print DTF, which carries full color with no per-color setup.

Print sizes: tell us the size you have in mind for the chest, full front, full back or sleeve, and we will confirm what fits the garment before you approve the proof.

Pricing & Turnaround

Pricing, Quantities & Turnaround for Hollywood

Screen printing's setup cost (one screen per color) is spread across the whole order, which is why it is the classic choice for large runs of one simple design. A DTF print has no per-color setup, so a full-color design sets up the same way as a one-color one, and a small order is not penalized. Send your quantity and design for a quote, usually the same day.

Turnaround

Standard: Most orders are ready in 1 to 10 days, depending on order size, and the clock starts when you approve the proof.

Rush & same-day: Same-day options may be available on rush orders. Tell us your event date when you ask for the quote and we will say plainly whether it fits.

Delivery to Hollywood zip codes: Larger orders can be delivered to 33019, 33020, 33021 and 33024. Free pickup is at our shop, nine minutes south of Hollywood on Federal Highway. Call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can hit your deadline.

FAQ

Screen Printing in Hollywood — frequently asked questions

What is screen printing?

Screen printing pushes ink through a fine mesh stencil, called a screen, onto the shirt, one color at a time. Each color in the design needs its own screen, so the setup is done once and then repeated across many identical shirts. That is why it suits large runs of one design with a few solid colors.

Does Adorb do screen printing?

No. Adorb doesn't run screen-printing presses. We print full-color designs with DTF transfers at our shop at 389 NE 2nd Ave in Hollywood, and we also embroider, print UV DTF and laser engrave. If you came looking for screen printing for a team, staff or event order, tell us what you need and we will quote it with DTF.

Is there a minimum order?

Screen printing usually has a practical minimum, because every color needs a screen set up before the first shirt prints. Adorb prints with DTF, which has no screens to set up, so there is no minimum: one shirt is a normal order, and so is a large run of the same design.

How many colors can a design have?

In screen printing each ink color is a separate screen, so most designs keep to a few solid colors, and photos or gradients are hard to reproduce. A DTF transfer prints the whole design in full color at once, with no screen per color, so photos and gradients print as they are.

Can you print shirts for condo buildings and staff uniforms?

Yes. Condo and building staff along the Hollywood and Hollywood beachfront often need matching shirts for maintenance crews, front desk staff and resident events. We print them with DTF, with no minimum, and larger orders can be delivered.

Can you print team shirts with player numbers?

Yes. With DTF each shirt can carry its own name and number in the same order, printed in full color. Send the roster with names, numbers and sizes and we will send a proof. Most orders are ready in 1 to 10 days, depending on order size, so tell us the season start date and we will plan around it.
